Backs off from his "Let it collapse" rhetoric from yesterday.

At his lunch with Senators, Trump is chirping:

  • We have no choice. Have to repeal and replace Obamacare. Can repeal but better to repeal and replace
  • Frankly I don't think we should leave town without approving healthcare legistation
  • A yes vote will let Senators debate future of healthcare. We are so close
  • Single payer healthcare system would bankrupt our country
  • You promised to repeal and replace Obamacare for seven years, now is the time to act.

As usual, the President has dialed back his rhetoric to let Obamacare collapse and then have the Democrats come crawling back to us. He does not think before he talks and ends up paying for it (and having to back track).

Regarding "leaving town", I wonder if it applies to Trump. He left for France to attend a parade (he just saw Macron at the G-20), and then returned to a golf tournament at his own course over the weekend. Come on.

Regarding "We are so close". The close is Dems give zero votes (and there is zero cooperation), and the Republicans - who have the majority - cannot secure the votes. Four said they would vote "No". Is there more out there?
